A Brief History On Street Painting

The art of street painters can be seen, every year, at chalk festivals throughout the world. Thousands of people attend these festivals to enjoy the art. However, for each street painting fan, there are four people who have never heard of this art form. Street painting is the art of painting on pavement, usually sidewalks, with various drawing mediums. The earliest known history of street painting dates back to the 16th century when European artists would paint holy icons during religious festivals in order to make a little bit of money. These paintings were made with mediums, such as chalk, brick, colored stones, and charcoal. Street painting is now usually done with chalk or pastels, but artists' techniques and themes have progressed through the years. Now, instead of simple renderings of religious icons, street paintings can be found in 3D format based on a variety of subject matters.
